Nuggets forward Vlatko Cancar has signed a three-year contract extension with a team option in the final year of his deal, a source confirmed to The Denver Post.
The deal could keep him in Denver through the 2024-25 season.
Cancar, a 6-foot-8 forward, had his season derailed last year after sustaining a fractured right foot in January. Before the injury, Cancar was playing some of the best basketball of his NBA career.
He had surgery then returned for the regular-season finale in April.
Internally, the Nuggets believe he can be a productive player but just hasn’t had the opportunity, or luck, to put it all together so far.
He’ll likely start the season deep on Denver’s depth chart, but could be useful given the handful of injuries the Nuggets suffered at power forward last season.
Cancar averaged 4.1 points and 2.1 rebounds last season.
